
Grassroots organizations are often at the forefront of movements that initiate change in Atlanta. Yet, studies show there are significant barriers to funding and resources for Black-led grassroots movements and small culturally led 501c3 organizations in Atlanta.
Founded in 2024 by Nekesha Whitaker, a nonprofit professional with over 10+ years of experience in the Nonprofit sector, the Atlanta Grassroots Foundation serves as an intermediary raising funds to financially support and provide training/ education to Black-led grassroots start-up organizations in Atlanta.

The mission of the Atlanta Grassroots Foundation is to protect, strengthen, and support the movements founded by grassroots organizers and organizations.

Grantmaking
Atlanta Grassroots Foundation offers small unrestricted grants to help grassroots organizations and start-up 501c3 organizations further their establishment.

Cohort
We offer a six-week hands-on training that covers all major aspects of founding and operating a nonprofit organization. We bring in expert leaders to cover topics such as fundraising, Strategic planning, and Financial Operations.

Young Black Professionals Funder Circle
The Young Black Professionals Giving Circle brings together young professionals in the Atlanta Community to introduce them to Philanthropy and enhance their understanding of nonprofit programming and inspire them to give back.
